I found these beautiful wood crafting ornaments from Joann Fabrics. I knew with the right stain i could make them looking old, rustic and beautiful.
I grabbed my favorite stain from Minwax (Early American), cut a rag, threw on some gloves and got to work. This probably took me 10 minutes to complete. Very easy project with maximum results.
These dried really fast and I actually hung them up on the tree the same day I stained them. I love how some areas are lighter, some are darker, and there are imperfections lending to the vintage feel.
I found some vintage yarn spools that I use for decor and decided to use the yarn to hang the ornaments to the tree. I just cut 4-5 inch pieces, threaded them through the holes and tied them to the Christmas tree branches.
These ornaments turned out beautifully. I spent $2.50 on each one and had existing stain so this was a very inexpensive project for an old world Christmas feel.
These turned out amazing. I am so glad I grabbed the 2 different styles they had because they look gorgeous together and both offer different vintage elements.
