We had this closet in the entryway/living room that was a catch-all and not doing us any favors.
Bifold doors before. They did the job but they didn’t look great and stuck out instead of flowing with the space.
I found some damaged doors at a local building materials store that no one wanted. I decided to fix them up by sanding, painting, and then lightly sanding them again to give them an aged look, where you could see some of the wood through the paint.
I decided to reconfigure the closet so we had more storage opportunities within the space. I painted the interior walls black (Limousine Leather by Behr) and Mike built a divider and shelves for one half of the closet.
I stained the shelves Early American by Minwax and painted the divider the same black as the interior of the closet. We reused the wood rod but cut it in half and went with two rods on one side.
We gained double the amount of storage space by utilizing the entire closet space from a vertical standpoint. The hanging space is the exact same as before just reconfigured but we now have room for all of those winter hats, scarves, gloves and boots!
This closet fits perfectly in the space now. By adding the new doors it flows through the space instead of sticking out like a sore thumb!
