If you want to DIY some artwork that I created, here are some step by step instructions to create your own!
Start with a large piece of artwork. Get creative! Find an old one in your house you no longer use. Go to a thrift store and find one you can paint over, or do what we did and make your own from a piece of plywood.
Paint it white, I always try to use leftover wall paint I have in the house. Let it dry and then grab some spackle and randomly paste it on throughout the piece. The messier the better!
Grab your supplies. Black paint, I like to use what I have in house again but for this art, I feel it looks better when it has a flat finish, not glossy, so find some matte black paint, a small and large paint brush, and the book you want to use. I grabbed one of my favorite Harry Potter books that was falling apart.
Paint the dried art a thin layer of black paint, make sure that you don’t cover the entire piece, you want some of the white to show through.
Grab your book and rip up the pages. I like to rip the horizontally so the pieces are long.
Take your small paintbrush, flip over the torn pages, and paint the entire back with black paint. This will be your glue, don’t be afraid to get messy. Place the page pieces in rows on your canvas.
